Roy Jones, JR. is way past his best. However, during his last fight in September 2014, against Hani Atiyo he showed that despite the kryptonite that is age, Superman still has a knowledge and ring generalship that can put away your average fighter. Marco Huck is a great slugger in the peak of his career, having a vast amount of experience for his 30-year-old head. Experience that includes, a suspect decision against the supremely skilled Alexander Povetkin. Two soul testing battles with Ola Afolabi and also, a recent win over Firat Arslan.

Although many say Roy Jones, JR. should retire, we always get inspiration from one last hurrah. Shane Mosley did it (in the final second of the final round against Ricardo Mayorga, followed by a nuclear attack on Antonio Margarito). Bernard Hopkins kept on doing it, and will probably do it again. But Hopkins has showed the ability to adapt, where as RJJ has displayed that he is unable to maintain the “Roy of old” style. However, maybe now he is learning to adapt his style to his age. I’d like to say that we don’t want him to put himself at risk. But with so many fighting beyond 40, I will actually be tuning in and wishing him the very best, because he may just pull off a shocker.
