GGG MMHBy Tim Taylor

It is not often in boxing that you have a fighter that no one really wants to fight because of his destructive reputation. In modern times only Mike Tyson and Marvin Hagler carried that type of stigma by which people would prefer to fight anyone but them and tangible doubts were raised by boxers coming up against them, or should I say a sense of fear.

Gennady Golovkin has that same aura – an aura that spells defeat to opponents before he even gets in the ring with them. We can argue that he has yet to be really tested. In fact, at some point, we know there is bound to be someone out there who will test GGG, but the question is when and who exactly will it be?

There is the question of him having to go up or down in weight to fight the real superstars like Floyd Mayweather, JR., Andre Ward, Jermain Taylor(if he ever gets out of the psycho ward) and Miguel Cotto. GGG brings to boxing echoes of Iron Mike and Mike’s terrific campaign in the late 80’s that unified the Heavyweight titles. If handled careful GGG may unify and dominate the middleweights for a long time like the legendary Marvelous Marvin Hagler did years ago.
