There’s an old adage that says “If you want to know me, come and live with me.” It pertains to that image of ‘Street angel/house devil’ and I think it’s safe to say that we have all known that creature. Life is awash with obstacles but, growing up with a bastard has to take the biscuit when it comes to being cheated by TV shows like The Waltons and The Cosby Show. Growing up isn’t easy, despite the apple pie, and adolescence will throw up issues of rejection, bullying, insecurity and much, much more.

Under normal circumstances, home was a sanctuary where we could hide as kids and a decent family would build us up for the wars beyond our walls. It was never easy…ever. As children, we had to trust those closest to us to ensure that those farthest from us would not destroy our lives and everyday was a struggle in its own way. We have all been that kid…and, as parents, we would breach every law in the statute if it meant protecting our own. Unless, of course, you are a vile, immoral, unprincipled thug who would inflict all these woes on your own children. There are those who would suggest that Floyd Mayweather, JR. is such a vile, immoral, unprincipled animal.

I have spoken several times in relation to Floyd’s incarceration for domestic abuse and, amazingly, people who have my respect have claimed that those allegations were unfounded, despite the fact that he pleaded guilty. So, it comes as no surprise to me that Floyd’s son, Koraun, would go public on USA Today with the details of Mayweather’s arrest for shocking domestic abuse. During the interview Koraun, now 15, outlined the savage events that transpired in his home on the day that Floyd was arrested for inflicting a barbaric beating on Koraun’s mother, Josie Harris.

Koraun recalled how his father, Floyd, arrived to the house in the early hours of the morning with an associate, James McNair, and ordered him to lock himself in his bedroom. Floyd then launched a brutal assault on Ms Harris because he felt his former partner was seeing another man. Floyd carried out the assault in the presence of his youngest son and, when the screams became unbearable, Koraun ran down the stairs to seek help. He was blocked at the hallway door by Floyd’s associate and, as he returned upstairs to seek a way out, he witnessed his father kick his mother in the head several times. Koraun then exited an upstairs bathroom window and ran to a security guard who phoned the police. Koraun did not know whether his mother was alive or dead at that time.

Although the District Attorney correctly sought the most serious conviction against Mayweather, little Floyd pleaded on a lesser charge and got away with 90 days…90 goddam days in jail. Shame on the American judicial system for accepting such a plea!! But, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather is worth more to the bank balance in the ring than he is in jail…so screw principles and the law. When in custody, his lawyers filed an appeal to have him released on the grounds that ‘convicted criminals’ were intimidating him and he was confined to cell for 23hrs a day….as Jack Palance used to say “Believe it….or not”.

Koraun finished the interview by describing his ‘father’ as a coward and I challenge any of you to say differently. A lady I know recently responded to the announcement of the Pacquiao vs Mayweather bout by posting on Facebook that “two sexy men would share the same ring on May 2nd”…I informed her of what this thug did and she took the post down in disgust. Facebook is awash with Floyd supporters who claim that his conviction was a trumped up charge. This article is to set the record straight on the kind of repulsive creature who did what Koraun recounted, on what Floyd Mayweather, JR. himself pleaded guilty to and what the courts convicted him of. This is the same ‘tough guy’ who was shamed into fighting Manny Pacquiao….if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and waddles like a duck…then it’s a yellow, lowdown duck and that’s what it is.
