Jose Aldo Vs Conor McGregor HEATS UP – MMA Breaking News

MMA headerBy Barnaby Kellaway

Such is the magnitude of the Jose Aldo/Conor McGregor title fight that the two today embark on an eleven day world press tour. The pair start in Rio Di Janeiro, then hit six major cities, before finishing up in McGregor’s hometown of Dublin.

But the Irishman couldn’t wait to get the party started. Yesterday, a day before the tour officially begins, he appeared at a UFC fan and media event hosted at an Irish bar in the Brazilian capital. Whilst there was no sign of Aldo, McGregor did more than an enough to whet the appetite of fans.

During the nine minute media scrum he was in his famous provocative form, making one antagonistic claim after another. When asked about the next day’s press conference, McGregor said, ‘I look forward to looking him dead in the eye… I’m ready to fight tomorrow… I’m here to kill him’.

This show from the challenger means it will be all the more interesting to see how Aldo behaves when the two meet face to face. There is a little under four months until the fight and McGregor won’t slow down in his outrageous approach for the duration. We, the fans and media who love this kind of rivalry, will be treated to the barrage of trash talking which Aldo will be subjected to. This evening we should see if the champion decides to take McGregor on with verbal jibes or whether he’ll opt to ignore it. Either way, it should be intriguing.

As well as fans, Dana White will be rubbing his hands together over all of this. Before the tour has even started everyone is talking about it. They’re promoting UFC 189 this hard in the hope that it could join the one million pay per view club. It’s off to a good start.

If the UFC can break one million buys this year then McGregor will surely be the man to do it. His last bout was the most watched MMA event ever on Fox Sports 1 and tickets for his headline fight in Dublin the year before sold out in record time. This time round he’s headlining a PPV for the first time and you wouldn’t bet against him breaking more records.

Now we can look forward to the next eleven days and firstly to this evenings stare down.

Expect fireworks.
