Timothy Bradley Survives Possible KO Due to Huge Blunder by Veteran Referee Pat Russell to Win Unanimous Decision Over Jessie Vargas
By “Bad” Brad Berkwitt
Timothy “Desert Storm” Bradley, JR., 32-1-1, 12 KO’s just won a unanimous decision over Jessie Vargas, 26-1, 9 KO’s to win a ridiculous interim title from the WBO in the welterweight division.
In the 12th round of a fight that Bradley was clearly ahead in, Vargas hurt him with a huge right hand with just a few seconds left in the fight. As Vargas chased Bradley around the ring and landed several shots on a very hurt Bradley, JR. referee Pat Russell waved it off at the 10 second warning thinking he heard the final bell. It was an honest mistake, but nonetheless, a huge blunder on his part. When the scorecards were read, Bradley, JR. won by 117-111, 116-112 and 115-112.
There is no need for a rematch of this fight…..
