GGG DLBy Donny “Golden Boy” Lalonde

Now this is a fight for the fight fans. Explosive puncher vs explosive puncher. Proven chin vs proven chin. Of course “GGG” has more experience at the championship level. David is a bit young to be thrown in this one as far as I can see. Young as in not much experience in the Championship level of the sport let alone against the biggest KO puncher of the sport at the moment.

I, of course, love this fight. It will be interesting to see how technical the fight gets because just bomb’s away at all times will lead us to possibly a Marvelous Marvin Hagler vs Tommy “Hit Man” Hearns style of fight, explosive from the outset to the end however long that is. It may be that David punches so hard that Golovkin has to adjust and break Lemieux down verses trying to knock him out with one punch. I don’t think that is likely early. Lemieux on the other hand has to be somewhat careful that he isn’t caught early in his excitement to “mix it up”…

Lemieux is a bigger man and could use that to his advantage keeping Gennady outside of his comfort zone making him reach in a bit and countering him on his way in. Lemieux could also go straight for a KO and cut off the ring forcing Gennady to fight out of his comfort zone of taking his time picking spots thus creating some openings early for David to exploit.
I can see this fight going either fast and furious or calculated and a beat down by “GGG” as he picks David apart keeping himself safely out of range or Lemieux breaking apart the calm, cool, collected [CCC] approach GGG will try to keep up while making David misses and then pays for trying to get through. Either way this fight has the potential to be fight of the year, a trilogy of great, explosive fights.

That is, if the younger/less experienced, Lemieux isn’t just in over his head. I am not saying he is, just that he could be. Gennady has become a more complete fighter over the last few years. His confidence and calm in the ring are very important factors around his seeming invincibility at this time in his career. Is his focus as stern as it has been? Is he taking this lesser experienced foe lightly? Is his frustration of not being able to land the big money fights out there with the likes of a Floyd Mayweather, JR. or a Miguel Cotto, playing with his head and does it have him off focus on Lemieux? Any one of these factors could be a factor in this fight we are not seeing.

What happens when one or both of these huge punchers connect cleanly and his opponent just shrugs off the shot? Does one or the other realize the frustration and take advantage of it or vice versa? Basically I think you have to look no further than the power between the ropes to see how this fight will end, by KO, but I can’t put a finger on who it will be that will be wilting from the pressure and constant power in the ring with both of these guys throwing their bombs nonstop will bring to each of them and the consequences thereof.

This is boxing at its most exciting and most primal state. It is a salivating fight for hard core boxing addicts to feast their starving aptitudes of needing the “explosion” fix. This is a fight for true boxing fans to pay PPV money to see, but seldom get in those fights. I see a 8th round TKO by “GGG” after a jump out of your seat, back and forth brawl that he just ends up being a bit too slick and a bit to savvy to not only survive, but in the end he will break David down. I could see an explosive one punch KO by either guy as well, but it is more likely to be a beat down and a breakdown of a bit too young a warrior. One that is too brave of a manager a bit too early scenario which could end up being the straw that breaks the proverbial back of the warrior I know David will show himself to be.

I am hoping it is the first of at least a trilogy between them of Gatti-Ward type proportions. The difference in this one is both of these guys are legitimate punchers.
