Packy’s World: Floyd Mayweather, JR Can you Hear IT? Crickets… Yaqui Lopez, Steve McQueen, My Pal Al & The Chutzpah Award Goes To Steven Bauer
By Packy “Boom Boom” Goldstein
Oy Vay are you going to hear it today… Sadie and I went to Israel for almost three weeks so hence my absence from writing for RSR. We try to go every two years or so while we are still able to travel. It’s such an amazing country if you have not been. Sadie still has some family there and everytime we have to leave, its tears everywhere.
Floyd Mayweather, JR…. Can you hear it? Can you? Nobody gives a shit you retired. You made money sure, but you pissed off so many fans of the sports including many that were once yours. Great fighter? Sure! A Putz as a person? You bet! But hey, you did it your way and that I do respect. Stay retired!
Yaqui Lopez… Was he not a warrior and a gentleman to boot? Today, they would have stopped the second Muhammad fight and Lopez would be a champion. Can you imagine a bout between Lopez and Kovalev? Bombs and more bombs with someone getting knocked out. My money would be on Yaqui….
Steve McQueen… One of my favorites of all time who ever graced the screen. The camera loved him and he was one helluva of an actor. Here are my top five McQueen movies.
5. The Hunter (his last movie)
4. The Towering Inferno
3. Bullet
2. The Sand Pebbles
1. Papillon
My Pal Al (“Bad” Brad’s Father)… I caught up on Bradley’s Shows and hey kiddo, you are cranking them out like I used to do laps around the pool in my swimming days – fast and many… One that stuck out was Bradley talking about his dad fighting for Blacks and Gays, along with other minorities his entire life.
Al, stood 5-2” with a heart bigger than the NYC. And a pair of brass balls the size of three boroughs. When it came to injustices, towards any human being, of any race, creed or color, he was not having it. So to see Bradley go off and also reference his father, brought tears to my 85 year old eyes. Bradley is truly a chip off his father’s block. Al would be proud, which I am sure of because he looks down from HEAVEN above over his only child.
The Chutzpah Award… The Chutzpah Award goes to Steven Bauer. I first became aware of him when he co-starred with Al Pacino in Scarface as Manny. Today, he has a costarring role on Ray Donovan as Avi, an Israeli henchman who works for Ray. He nails the role and having just come back from Israel, I can tell his dialect on the show, is spot on.
