Packy’s World: Canelo Alvarez – Miguel Cotto Let Down Number II in 2015, Sugar Ray Robinson, Sean Connery, My Pal Al & The Chutzpah Award Goes to Colin Powell

Oy Vay are you going to hear it today… As most of the US freezes their tuckus off, it was a warm 75 here earlier today on the Biscayne Bay. Sadie had the old bippies over and they played their Monday afternoon poker game as I sat and watched some old fight films of Tony Zale.

Canelo Alvarez – Miguel Cotto PPV…. As I watched Tony, it made me more disgusted at that PPV between these two fighters as I am sure many were out there. Sure Cotto was once great, and I changed my prediction from Alvarez to Cotto at the last minute, but I have to admit, Kellerman got it right when he said in Cotto’s last three fights, “he was matched well”. He’s shot at the elite level and should retire now before he gets hurt. No doubt in my mind, he goes into the IBHOF the first year eligible.

Sugar Ray Robinson… With these constant let downs, I yearn for Ray and his fantastic battles he put on against the best of his era.

Sean Connery… How the hell can you not love him? Good looking son of bitch even at 85 without his rug on. He also loves boxing so I hear. These are my top five Connery movies.

My Pal Al (“Bad” Brad’s Father)…. The last few years of Al’s life he was very reflective on his days in Hollywood, his life on Miami Beach and New York. He made it a point to let Bradley, Sadie and I know how much he loved us. As we go into the holidays a time Al loved, make sure you let the ones you love know that you love them. No days are promised, and at my age, oy vay do I know it!

The Chutzpah Award… The Chutzpah Award goes to retired General  and former Secretary of State, Colin Powell. This man has integrity, balls and if he would run for President today, I would donate my time to his campaign in a New York Minute!
