Breaking NFL News: Seahawks Nip the Vikings 10-9

SeattleBy Dave “Mythical” Siderski

Somewhere high above, John Facenda must be smiling. His baritone voice would have been perfect for this defensive slugfest played in sub-zero temperatures. The Vikings led 9-0 after three quarters of play. However, in the fourth quarter, Russell Wilson led Seattle on a 7 play, 80 yard drive, including an otherworldly 35 yard completion to Tyler Lockett. A Wilson to Doug Baldwin 3 yard touchdown connection narrowed the Vikings lead to 9-7. On the ensuing possession, Adrian Peterson fumbled, which set up a Steven Hauschka 46 yard field goal giving the Seahawks a 10-9 lead. The next several minutes were a stalemate before the Vikings took over at their own 39 with 1:42 remaining.

A huge Teddy Bridgewater 24 yard completion to Kyle Rudolph brought Minnesota to within field goal range. The game came down to a chip shot 27 yard field goal attempt by Blair Walsh, who had already converted 3 times on the day. Inexplicably, Walsh missed badly giving the Seahawks the victory. Seattle now moves on to face the #1 seeded Carolina Panthers in the divisional round, while a shocked and disappointed Minnesota Vikings team goes home for the season.
