Mythical Dave’s Divisional Playoff Round Picks – NFL News

NFLBy Dave “Mythical” Siderski

I hate to toot my own horn but yes NFL fans I picked 3 of the 4 games correctly last weekend. Yeah, yeah, I know: “Don’t break your arm patting yourself on the back!” Anyway, we now really get down to the nitty gritty as only 4 teams will be left standing after this weekend. Here are my picks for the Divisional Round.

Kansas City Chiefs (12-5) at New England Patriots (12-4)

I think an upset is very possible in this matchup. There are many questions surrounding the World Champion Patriots. The Chiefs have a strong defense on all three levels which makes them a dangerous matchup. However, I believe Tom Brady finds a way to pull this one out in the end. This assumes that Rob Gronkowski is healthy and plays on Saturday.

New England 23 Kansas City 20

Pittsburgh Steelers (11-6) at Denver Broncos (12-4)

If Big Ben and Antonio Brown were healthy I’d go with the Steelers in a heartbeat. However, with Roethlisberger suffering from a separated shoulder and Brown a question mark due to a concussion that changes the picture in a major way. If Peyton Manning is anywhere close to a reasonable facsimile of his former self and protects the football, the Broncos defense should power them to a victory.

Denver 24 Pittsburgh 17

Seattle Seahawks (11-6) at Carolina Panthers (15-1)

This is the matchup of the weekend. Cam Newton and Russell Wilson are the future of the NFL and both teams have stout, hard hitting defenses. The Panthers had the best regular season record in the league while the Seahawks are the most dangerous team in the playoffs. In the end, I’ll go with the more battletested team, Seattle, in a classic slugfest that would make boxing fans proud!

My Pick: Seattle 24 Carolina 20

Green Bay Packers (11-6) at Arizona Cardinals (13-3)

The Packers looked good last week in destroying the Redskins and certainly any team with Aaron Rodgers always has a chance. However, they are now going up against the most complete team remaining in the playoffs in the Cardinals. Arizona ranked first in the NFL in total offense, fifth in total defense and Carson Palmer is playing the best football of his career. The first matchup between these two teams was a blowout. This one will be as well.

My Pick: Arizona 41 Green Bay 20
