WBCRecently in Miami, the WBC conducted a purse bid for the WBC World Heavyweight Championship, with Champion Deontay Wilder facing mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin.

The WBC has proudly instituted a new rule that for all WBC bouts that go to purse bid, 10% of the total amount is reserved to be paid as a bonus to the winner of the fight. Historically, boxers competed in “winner take all” fights, but the sport in modern times changed, so now the boxers receive amounts set before the fight, with no added incentive to the winner.

The WBC believes that for the benefit of honest competition, the fans, and the sport, the WBC’s bonus rule will result in the most exciting and spectacular bouts in boxing.

The total amount of the winning bid will be divided as follows:

· 10% of the total amount will be reserved in escrow and will be awarded to the winner of the fight.

· The remaining 90% of the total bid will be divided 70% for champion Wilder and 30% for mandatory challenger Povetkin.
