PACKYS-WORLD-500x300By Packy “Boom Boom” Goldstein

Oy Vay are you going to hear it today… Sadie, Sadie my little Sadie! Bagel Breaker Extraordinaire that she is! She has now hired a general contractor to redo both bathrooms in our condo and this putz thinks ole Packy was born last night! I was in fact born at night, but not last night, you schmuck! He hands me an estimate for such a large price, I could have my schmeckle fixed where it acted liked it was 20 years old for the price he wanted! Needless to say, we are getting more estimates! Now let’s talk some boxing…

Canelo Alvarez exposed… Look, I like the red headed kid who looks like Opie, but stop already he is a much better fighter than he was in 2013 when Floyd Mayweather, JR. took him to boxing school. Sure the kid hits hard and when you stand in front of him, he will destroy you especially if you are smaller fighter. Oscar De La Hoya knows he has a cash cow, but Lara beat him and was robbed. Amir Khan is smaller and will be added to the highlight reel of Opie, I mean Canelo. Until he fights someone like “GGG” or even Danny Jacobs, who I think has a very good chance of beating him, I feel he is more smoke and mirrors and will be exposed in both fights. Only time will tell, but again, Khan aint it you Meshugana’s!

Deontay Wilder Shocker… Look, we know the young man is not skilled and like Bradley always says, “He’s a great sound bite”. But I am here to tell you, no way he turns down 4.5 million against Povetkin. I am sure Wilder is sick of the beating he takes in the press for his weak title defenses he has made thus far and wants to prove something. Now with that said, Povetkin wins on points!

Glenn Ford… What an amazing actor with such a humanistic appeal in his roles he played. I never had the chance to meet him, but from all accounts, he was a gentleman off the screen as well. Here are my top five Ford movies.

5. The Courtship of Eddie’s Father
4. Pocket Full Of Miracles
3. Teahouse Of The August Moon
2. Gilda
1. 3:10 To Yuma

My Pal Al (“Bad” Brad’s Father)…. As many know, Bradley’s father acted and had he stuck with it, Al would have been a huge character actor. With the Oscars on last night, I look at performances that Al could have played as well and in some cases, even better. I only wish I had some of his work on tape especially the plays he did with Robert Blake and a few others.

The Chutzpah Award… The Chutzpah Award Posthumously goes to Jimmy Durante. Jimmy was the sweetest man who never took his legendary JDcareer seriously, but loved every minute of it along with his fans. In late 58, I met Jimmy at the Rooney Pub in Miami, Florida. He was very kind to me and even took a picture with me that hangs in my office today. Hollywood loved him and such icons as Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando just adored him. His death in 1980, at the age of 86, was a huge loss to the entertainment industry.
