Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, Errol “the Truth” Spence, JR.once again proved why he is one of the best young prospects in the world. Spence, JR., 20-0 17 KO’s, from DeSoto Texas took on battle tested and New York native Chris Algieri, 21-3, 8 KO’s. Algieri whose two prior loan defeats came at the hands of future hall of famer Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan came into the bout as the biggest name on Errol’s resumé. Spence the 2012 US Olympian took control of the fight from the opening bell landing precise left hooks and combinations to the head and body of Algieri. In the 4th round during an solid exchange from both fighters Spence, JR. landed a solid left hook on the jaw of Algieri knocking him to the canvas, he beat the count and eventually finished the round. In the 5th it was the exact same as Errol’s left hook was like a missile finding it’s target, Spence, JR. knocked Algieri down two more times hurting him and leaving no choice but for referee Benji Esteves to step in and wave off the fight at the 48 second mark of round 5.

I know I caught him with some big shots and shots he definitely felt, but he was composed and caught me with some shots when I was between strategies.”
