Anthony “Rumble” Johnson Stops Glover Texeira – UFC News

Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson showed the world why he’s the number 1 contender for the light heavyweight title when he fought fellow perennial contender Glover Texeira. Both fighters brought power to the table, both had the desire to get the next shot at the belt.

Texeira, ask for the fight with glover but as the old adage say “be careful what you wish for”.

Anthony Johnson obliterated Texeira with a blistering uppercut that immediately shut the Texeira’s lights out. The word “obliterated” is an overstatement, Texeira went crumbling down as the Johnson’s fist hit Texeira’s head, Texeira went down in 13 seconds. Texeira continued to shoot for a takedown towards the referee, after waking up, not knowing the fight was over.

With the win Anthony Johnson cemented his claim for another shot at Daniel Cormier’s light heavyweight title. Anthony Johnson made a friendly call out to Cormier, who was at the stands.

“I’m working hard to get to the title. Daniel, you the man, baby. I’m coming for you.”

In a fight card that got a lot of media attention, Johnson kept his composure and showed the world that he let his fighting do the talking and that is more-than-enough attention.
