Robbie Lawler Out of UFC 205 Fight Against “Cowboy” Cerrone – MMA Breaking News
Literally 2 days after their fight was announced, former welterweight champion “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler is reported to have pulled out his scheduled “dream” match versus former lightweight contender and resurging welterweight, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone for UFC’s inaugural card in The Big Apple. TMZ first broke the news. Lawler is the former welterweight champion of the world, defeating Johny Hendricks via split decision, he defended his title twice against Canadian Rory MacDonald and perennial weltwerweight contender, Carlos Condit. Lawler has since relinquished his title to Tyron Woodley via TKO.
It is well known that Lawler’s fight with Cerrone is one of the most anticipated and with most clamor by fans. Even Cerrone himself was excited about his bout with Lawler, knowing full well that both of them are fan favorites and always brings exciting fights and finishes in the octagon.
The UFC obliged and it seemed like all fell into place until it was reported that Lawler pulled out. Lawler’s camp or the UFC management did not make a comment on the circumstances of the events as of late.
