Fox News Should Change Its Name to Faux News

Fox News should change its name to Faux News. On June 28th 2018, a lone gunman entered the office of The Capital Gazzete in Annapolis Maryland. Five people were killed and 3 more were wounded. Before anyone actually knew the details of the incident Sean Hannity of the Fox network blamed the esteemed member of the House of Representatives Maxine Waters. Mrs Waters recently encouraged people to engage in peaceful protest in order to stop the separation of immigrant families and in protest of many other policies of the Trump administration.

Fox has twisted he message to make it seem as though she is inciting violence. This is typical of Fox and a prime example of why I refuse to call this propaganda station news. Here is two basic reason to consider my argument that Faux News needs to be taken off the air. Education matters and words have consequences.

Fox has consistently questioned the education and qualifications or people of color while ignoring the inept record of their own host. Hannity criticized President Obama, a man that graduated from Columbia University and Harvard Law. He also worked for many years as a community organizer. Maxine Waters is a former member of the California State Assembly from 1976 to 1990 and she has been a member of the United States House of representatives from 1991 to present. She also has her bachelors from California State University.

Now let us examine the background of Sean Hannity the so called conservative host. Sean Hannity attended NYU, UC Santa Barbara and Adelphi University and he did not graduate from any of them. He was a mediocre student that failed of barely passed ever class. His only accolade was participating in a voluntary college radio station at UC Santa Barbara. He has no formal journalistic training and he has no background in politics. So how can anyone of sound mind justify that this person has any right to question another person’s qualifications or education.
Also, Hannity has already been proven several times that he has no journalistic integrity. Most recently it was proven that he was the mysterious secret client that Trump’s Lawyer refused to name. His relentless attacks on enemies of Trump and his unwavering support show a bias rarely seen in the history of journalism. His most recent rant is probably the most dangers.

Maxine Waters has been receiving death threats and she had to cancel events in Texas and Alabama. The attacks by Sean Hannity and Trump have added to the concerns. Words have power and consequences and unfortunately there are violent people in the country that listen to the rants of an uneducated Fox employee that would rather be a racist talking head than a responsible journalist. If he had only checked sources he would know that the man that opened fire in the Capital Gazette had a prior issue with the paper after they printed an article about him some time ago. But it is not the job of Sean Hannity to get it right or practice journalism. He is only there to spread hatred and right wing ideology. There are always consequences to our actions and we can only pray the Fox network talking heads don’t inspire more chaos. Fox is the most watched network and they are allowed to lie because they are not News but a corporation. How can you create a strong and healthy nation when the Fox network is feeding most of the population lies? Remember we are all in this together. Remember our collective rise in the demise of Injustice.
