Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash & Henry Mancini Recording Engineer Jim Malloy Dead at 87

Veteran recording engineer Jim Malloy who was also a publisher and producer died yesterday at the age of 87. No cause of death has been reported to date.  Over the course of a long career, he worked with Elvis Presley who dubbed him, “the best engineer anywhere as far as I am concerned”) as well as Duke Ellington, Johnny Cash, Henry Mancini and Dolly Parton to name just a few.

Malloy won a Grammy Award in 1964 for engineering Mancini’s “Charade” and was nominated for five more Grammy’s that decade for his work on Presley’s “How Great Thou Art,” Eddy Arnold’s “The Last Word in Lonesome is Me,” “The Latin Sound of Henry Mancini,” “Pink Panther” and “The Addams Family Main Theme.”
