April Ryan and Jim Acosta Will Be Remembered As The Greatest American Journalists of Our Time!

When I think of April Ryan and Jim Acosta, I think of journalist, Edward R. Murrow. If anyone knows American history then you know who he was and what he stood for. Murrow, a broadcaster from CBS, single handedly with his reporting of the horrors of McCarthyism, brought down Senator Joseph McCarthy.

McCarthyism was a campaign against people that McCarthy deemed communists in the US Government and other institutions. This occurred during the period of 1950-54. This campaign ruined many lives and lead people to be blacklisted. Careers were ruined especially in Hollywood.

McCarthyism was the practice of making accusations of subversion or treason without proper regard for evidence. This is very similar to Trumpism. Ironically, Senator McCarthy’s young protégé and chief counsel, Roy Cohn, would go on to work for Donald J. Trump and his father Fred.

It seems like history is repeating itself and Ryan, a White House Correspondent for the American Urban Radio Networks since 1997 who is of African American descent and Acosta, a CNN White Correspondent whose father was a Cuban immigrant, were the first journalists to challenge the Trump Administration. These two great Americans are unapologetic about their pursuit of the truth. They were the first two to lead the battle cry for all Americans when no one else would.

The retaliation of their sacrifice is that during the White House Press Conferences their questions are no longer being answered. The President will blatantly refuse to answer their questions. April Ryan was uninvited to the White House Correspondent’s Annual Christmas Party that is held at the White House. Her life was threatened as well. At a recent rally in Tampa, Florida, Jim Acosta’s life was in danger when Trump supporters were attacking him verbally and close to physically. This was due in part to Trump’s propaganda that CNN and Acosta are the enemy of the state.

In fact, Donald J. Trump is the enemy of the state. From his actions of stripping former CIA Chief John Brennan’s security clearance is evidence of that. Brennan was someone who gave decades of service to this country, yet Trump wants to shut him down due to his criticism of his presidency. He retaliated against Brennan for exercising his First Amendment right to free speech. This is the beginning of the end of our country as we know it if we don’t wake up and stand up to our descent to a dictatorship. Ryan and Acosta were the first two journalists to make us aware.

There are two quotes from Edward R. Murrow that have such significance in the 1950’s and now. They are “A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves” and “We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. When loyal opposition dies, I think the soul of American dies with it”. Murrow was right then and these quotes ring true now. We must continue this good fight against the tyranny of the Trump Administration. We must vote and be heard. We need Ryan and Acosta to continue the good fight of asking the questions that no one else would ask.
