Jürgen Brähmer Predicts Win Over Nathan Cleverly

WBO light heavyweight champion Jürgen Brähmer (36-2, 29 KOs) has commented on his April 2 clash against interim beltholder Nathan Cleverly (21-0, 10 KOs) at the Wembley Arena in London. “I’m very happy about this fight. The venue is music to my ears. I’m a big soccer fan. The curse of the Wembley goal in 1966 has long since been broken by the goal of Didi Hamann in the old Wembley Stadium and the victory of our national soccer team in 2007 in the new arena. This is a good omen for me. As a boxer, I consider Cleverly to be very good. He’s technically very adept and can go at a good pace. But I’m the world champion and will defeat him.”

Jürgen has fought in England previously as an amateur. In 1996 in Blackpool, he stopped none other than British boxing hero Ricky Hatton. “That was nothing big,” recalls Brähmer. “After half a round the thing was over.”
