Michael McKinson Makes a Statement!

A few months back, you may remember I wrote a post about a professional fighter who goes by the alias “The Problem”.

At the time he was a former WBC Youth World Champion and a WBC International Silver Champion.

Despite having these titles to his name that many great fighters over the year have also possessed, including the likes of Danny Garcia, Timothy Bradley and Canelo Alvarez, Michael McKinson still hadn’t got the coverage or recognition that he deserved.

That all changed a short while ago after signing with MTK Global – the boxing management company – who managed to get McKinson fighting live on the TV channel “BoxNation” over here in the UK.

McKinson was, I believe, co-main event on the show which saw Sunny Edwards win the WBO European title against Ryan Farrag in the Super Flyweight division.

The fighter, who lives and trains in Portsmouth alongside his father at Bally’s Gym, put together a fantastic performance, completely outclassing and dominating his highly touted opponent, Sammy McNess.

A lot of people considered this to be a hard fight for McKinson and whilst it was almost certainly a fight in which he had to convincingly win each round – due to being the away fighter – he made it look easy and never seemed to be in trouble throughout the 10 rounder.

The humble; undefeated fighter, Michael McKinson, put McNess down in the 7th round and throughout each round did more than enough to show the judges that he was winning convincingly.

With his dad in between rounds reminding him that he had to outwork McNess and win every round, McKinson didn’t let his foot off the gas and consistently out-pointed and out-worked his opponent.

During the 10 rounds it was easy to see how McKinson has earned his name “The Problem” as he did nothing but cause problems for the West Ham fighter in the opposite corner and I know for a fact that McKinson’s boxing display impressed both the commentators at ringside and the rest of the welterweight division here in Britain.

McKinson now sits at the number 7 spot on the BoxRec British rankings at Welterweight; so hopefully in the very near future, we will see “The Problem” back on TV on some big shows, fighting some even bigger names inside the UK top 10!

If you haven’t already, then be sure to search for Michael McKinson Vs. Sammy McNess on Google and you’ll find videos that you can check out…

If you’re a boxing fan you won’t be disappointed as this was a brilliant performance in the home of British Boxing, at Bethnal Green’s York Hall.

Congratulations to Michael “The Problem” McKinson on a fantastic performance, from all of us here at the Ringside Report.
