Nonito Donaire Vs. Fernando Montiel: Shocking Results

By “Bad” Brad Berkwitt

Nonito Donaire, 26-1, 18 KO’s decimated a game warrior in Fernando Montiel, 44-3-2, 34 KO’s tonight in Las Vegas, Nevada by second round knockout to claim the WBC/WBO Bantamweight Titles. A left hook put Montiel down hard and had him shaking in the second round, but after amazingly getting up before the count of ten, Montiel went on to absorb a few more shots before the referee stopped the fight in the second.

In the co-main event, boxing fans saw a rematch between Mike Jones, 24-0, 18 KO’s facing Jesus Soto-Karass, 24-6-3, 16 KO’s. It was basically a one sided fight and when the cards were read, Jones was up by scores of 117-111, 116-112 and 115-113.
