Tito Ortiz Breaking News: UFC Shocker
The UFC’s first-ever trip to the state of Washington has gotten a facelift. UFC President Dana White announced that Tito Ortiz has been forced out of the UFC Fight Night 24 main event, and Phil Davis will replace him and face Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
An accidental training-session head butt forced Tito Ortiz to receive 22 stitches. An MRI and CT scan indicated no serious head trauma, but the wound was deep enough to force Ortiz to withdraw from the bout. No timetable has been determined for Ortiz’s return bout which White has referred to as a “must-win” match up for the former light heavyweight champion to keep his job. UFC Fight Night 24 is on March 26 at Key Arena in Seattle and airs live on Spike TV.
Davis (8-0) had been expected to fight Matt Hamill at April’s UFC 129 event, then Jason Brilz when Hamill was pulled in favor of a UFC 130 matchup with Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
