Dan Henderson Expecting a War on March 5th
Dan Henderson’s upcoming title fight on March 5th has many convinced he will be champion after his bout with current Strikeforce Lightheavyweight Champion “Feijao”. Dan Henderson’s background is Greco-Roman wrestling, but he is well known in the MMA world for the bombs he packs in both of his fists especially his overhand right. Henderson has displayed his amazing knockout power throughout his career and will now be testing “Feijao”.
“Feijao” is an extremely powerful fighter as well and an opponent who shares the same talent and power for turning people’s lights off. During a recent conference call held in for the event, Henderson discussed his upcoming fight with a fellow knockout artist as he stated “He looks like he works real hard and he’s dangerous up there, He throws a little bit more on the looping side of the punches and not overly straight but still just as dangerous so I need to be careful up there. I don’t think it’s a secret that both of us are probably going to look for a knockout. That’s most of our finishes, when we finish a guy, it’s by strikes. I definitely plan on trying to knock him silly and pressure him the whole fight.”
Akthough Henderson expects them both to be headhunting for a KO, he is also very aware of the need to stay patient and not open himself up to Cavalcante’s punches and kicks. When I asked if “Feijao’s” respect for Henderson weighed in on his motivation Henderson replied “It’s more of a chess match. I need to make sure that I go out there and I implement my gameplan no matter who I’m fighting, whether they’re respectful or not respectful, they’re still going to be trying to knock my head off, So I need to be careful when I’m out there and get the job done.”
Strikeforce: Henderson vs “Feijao” will be held on March 5th, 2011 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The car will also feature the co-main event of Marloes Coenen and Liz Carmouche for the Strikeforce Women’s Welterweight Title.
