TNA Breaking News: New Heavyweight Champion Crowned!

Sting just beat Jeff Hardy for the TNA World title at the iMPACT! tapings in Fayetteville, North Carolina. This show will air on Spike TV on March 3rd, 2011.
Sting wore a new but old outfit with red sequins as he returned to his old-school look. In what I was told was an awesome match, the end came when Sting hit the Scorpion Death Drop and scored the pin. Sting got a huge “pop” when he returned to TNA. The first time Sting went for the Scorpion Death Drop, Hardy got to the ropes and broke it. Jeff was in control most of the match also until Sting hit three Scorpion Death Drops in a row, including one from the top rope like he did to for the win.
I’ll have more on these Impact! tapings with full results soon but it sounds like TNA knew they needed to get the title off Jeff Hardy due to his ongoing legal issues stemming from his drug possession charge. The last I heard was that Jeff and his lawyer did not approve of the proposed plea deal he was originally offered. This led to and explains why his lawyer called in “sick” to give them more time to strike a deal.
