Junior dos Santos: "Brock Lesnar has a Glass Jaw"
Season 13 of the Ultimate Fighter featuring former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Brock Lesnar, and Junior dos Santos coaching fourteen welterweights premieres at the end of March. After the season concludes, Lesnar and dos Santos will face off in the Octagon to determine the next #1 contender at UFC 131.
Dos Santos was originally dubbed the #1 contender and was scheduled to face the man who took the belt from Lesnar, Cain Velazquez, but a rotator cuff injury has put Velasquez on the shelf and pushed back his fight with dos Santos. dos Santos explained in a recent interview that he chose to stay active while Velasquez recovered due to the amount of time he would have to spend out himself to wait and also because he was offered a coaching spot on TUF “I was to fight Cain Velasquez but he got hurt in the shoulder and is gonna stay out for one year. It’s too long to wait. Then I got approached to film ‘TUF’ and I said yes in the same instant.” stated dos Santos.
Dos Santos predicts that he will be able to hurt Lesnar easily based on Lesnar’s recent bouts against Shane Carwin and Cain Velasquez, in which Lesnar was exposed as possessing a weak chin.
“[Lesnar] shows he doesn’t have a good chin to accept punches,” said dos Santos. “I think I am faster than him, so I will try to use my speed, throw some punches and try to keep the fight standing up to win…I’m going to give all that I have to try to knock him out, for sure.”
TUF 13 will begin airing March 30th on Spike TV, UFC 131 is expected to take place on June 11, 2011 from the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and will also feature former number one heavyweight contender Shane Carwin vs. an opponent still to be named and UFC fan favorite Kenny Florian dropping down from lightweight to featherweight to take on Diego Nunes.
