Bert Cooper Returns to the Win Column in Heavyweight Fight

45-year-old former heavyweight title challenger Bert Cooper (38-22, 31 KOs) won a split decision over 362-pound Gabe Brown (18-14-1, 12 KOs) on Saturday at Club Europe in Atlanta, Georgia. Cooper, who lost a title shot against Evander Holyfield in 1991, won by scores of 57-56, 58-54 on two cards, while Brown prevailed 57-56 on the third card. Copper returned last year after an eight year retirement and is now 2-0 in his comeback.

In the main event, heavyweight Travis Walker (35-6-1, 28 KOs) took an eight round unanimous decision over cruiserweight title challenger Darnell “The Ding-a-ling Man” Wilson (23-11-3, 20 KOs) by scores of 79-72, 76-75, 78-75.

Also, local jr middleweight favorite Xavier Tolliver (23-6, 16 KOs) topped Timothy Hall (5-10, 4 KOs) over six by scores of 60-54 (twice) and 59-55.
