Christiane "Cyborg" Santos: WWE Breaking News
In some of the most shocking MMA news in a while, sources close to current Strikeforce Women’s Middleweight Champion and best female MMA fighter Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos indicated that the Brazilian buzzsaw is currently in negotiations with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).
About two weeks ago, Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos had attended a live WWE event in California with her husband Evangelista Santos, and was offered a contract on the spot with the WWE.
Christiane has not been offered a fight in MMA since her June 26, 2010 bout against Jan Finney, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker has declined to comment on the matter at all, but it is now under the assumption that the promotion couldn’t find a willing participant for Santos over the past nine months. For those of you who don’t follow MMA, she is a huge name in the MMA world and the #1 female in all of MMA.
She’s also not your ‘typical WWE Diva either, as Santos actually has a skill other than modeling, Santos holds a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and is also a member of the Chute Boxe Academy, which is basically the proving ground in one of Brazil’s largest sports Vale Tudo. If Santos goes to the WWE women’s MMA would lose the credibility its worked so hard to establish this past decade as a legit piece to the MMA puzzle, as well as hurt the sport of MMA’s image among those who still think pro wrestling is “Real”, if a pro fighter won’t fighter, a model like Kelly Kelly would never actually consider stepping in a ring with Santos unless it was scripted.
