Jeff Hardy Drug Abuse Infuriates Sting: The Inside Story
Jeff Hardy’s music hits, but Hardy is very slow to make his way out for some reason. That reason will be discussed after I explain the match, just as Sting is announced, his pop is interrupted by Bischoff, who comes down to the ring with microphone in hand and we have a slight change of plans. Apparently there was a “situation” where the network got into Bischoff’s business, and because Hardy was taken advantage of so blatantly by Sting, Bischoff is going to be fair. Bischoff asks Sting to shake his hand, but Sting won’t do it. In order to level the playing field, and Hardy wasn’t able to prepare for Sting, they changed the rules and let Hardy know, but didn’t inform Sting to be fair. This is a No DQ match. Sting hits Bischoff and stomps his knee, sending him to the outside.
The bell rings and Sting stares down Hardy. Hardy seems more concerned about where he is and where to throw his t-shirt than going up against Sting. Sting backs him up into the corner and Hardy goes into the ropes. Hardy teases throwing his shirt into the crowd, but drops it to the mat. We finally get a lock up and Sting lays into Hardy with a couple of big right hands before hitting the Scorpion Death drop. Sting pins Hardy and this one is over in 1 minute and 28 seconds.
Winner and STILL TNA World Champion: Sting
Sting looks very upset, and not at all happy about this the crowd starts chanting “BULLSHIT!” and Sting yells to the crowd while on camera “I AGREE!”. Hardy argues a bit with the ref, but this one is really over. Sting holds up the title and celebrated, but Sting really doesn’t look happy with this at all. The fans aren’t happy, this was how things were planned.
The reason that the Victory Road main event was less than 90 seconds was because Jeff Hardy was in no condition to wrestle in his match against Sting. Hardy was under the influence yet again and Sting refused to wrestle a long match given he is 52 and relies on talent to carry him nowadays. Sting was said to be a complete professional about the entire situation but was clearly pissed off after the match.
People within TNA are reportedly very upset that Jeff Hardy was even sent to the ring, when it was clear to EVERYONE backstage that he should never have been sent out as his condition was bad. Also, people within the company felt that the card should have been shuffled so that the company would not have been embarrassed like they were last night on Pay-Per-View.
Many people within the company are pissed off right now as well, the company came off looking bad, and because the situation is representative of greater problems that currently plague the company. Hardy is scheduled to appear in court for his constantly delayed drug charges stemming from last year, but it looks as if he will be either going to jail, going to rehab, getting fired, or all of the above. This marks the thousandth time Jeff Hardy has been in no “Condition” to wrestle and solidifies why the WWE let him walk to being with. After the show Jeff Hardy wrote “Things are op” on Twitter.
Victory Road is TNA’s major event before the annual Lockdown event, which this year is scheduled to have Bengal’s wideout Chad Ochocinco and coach Marvin Lewis facing off in a cage match. Victory Road however, ended up being the lowest point in TNA history and expect the already low ratings to plummet horrifically this week. Jeff Hardy may have killed off any hopes of TNA ever becoming a main stay in pro wrestling, and Jeff Hardy in my opinion has taken all the thunder from Charlie Sheen as Charlie Sheen wasn’t risking any lives but his own.
