Jeff Hardy Drug Abuse: Major Update
The drug case against Jeff Hardy has continued once again. Today in Moore County, NC Superior Court, the case has been ongoing for 18 months, and today, Assistant District Attorney Warren McSweeney asked Judge James Webb to continue on with the case.
The reason for the continuance is so they can get the results of lab tests from the State Bureau of Investigation for evidence seized from Hardy’s home on September 11th, 2009. Both sides are still reportedly working on a plea deal.
Moore County sheriff’s deputies arrested Hardy September 11th, 2009 after a tip led to a search warrant for his residence on Camp Easter Road. The search turned up approximately 262 Vicodin prescription pills, 180 Soma non-controlled prescription pills, 555 milliliters of anabolic steroids, a residual amount of powder cocaine, and items of drug paraphernalia, Sheriff Lane Carter said.
Vicodin and anabolic steroids are included in Schedule III within the North Carolina Controlled Substances Act. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $2,500 according to the sheriff’s office. The state of North Carolina is harsh on its first time drug offenders with most sentences carrying a minimum of 45 days for first time offenders.
