Tomas Rojas – Juan Montes Press Conference

WBC super flyweight champion Tomas “Gusano” Rojas promised that he would knock out his newest challenger Juan Jose “Goofy” Montes on Saturday, May 21st, at the brand new Metropolitan Arena in the Mexican state of Chiapas during the announcing press conference today in Mexico City. “Like always, I will be ready for twelve rounds if not fifteen. It’s about time I score another knock out and this would be the perfect opportunity since my opponent doesn’t have many fights,” Rojas of Veracruz, MX, stated to the assembled media. “I am happy to fight in Mexico once again after my fights in Japan. I know he is a strong fighter but I am hungry and I will come out to win.”

On the other hand, Guadalajara’s MX’s Montes was sure to answer in kind and assured those present that this was his time and despite his lack of experience, did not hesitate to say that he was going to knock out the champion, “Like you all know, I only have twenty-two fights and eighteen of those I won by knock out so it will be no surprise if I end this one by one but I will be ready to go the twelve rounds if necessary.”

The press conference was held by Jorge Cuesi, President of the Sport Institute for the state of Chiapas who stated that the bout will mark the fifth title fight held in his state. The bout will inaugurate the newly constructed Metropolitan Arena which will be configured for four thousand patrons.

Guillermo Brito, COO of Zanfer Promotions and Hector Garcia, Director of HG Boxing, announced that the bout will be broadcast by Fox Sports in the United States and Latin America. The bout will also be broadcast in Japan. In Mexico the bout will be seen on the Azteca Channel.
