Medusa: Fire Breathing Car Promotes Bellflower
Visionary filmmaker Evan Glodell will be celebrating his upcoming Summer movie release of Oscilloscope Laboratories’ BELLFLOWER this weekend by unveiling his hand-crafted, road ready and apocalypse- equipped car – Medusa – at the New York International Auto Show. This unforgettable machine creates some of the film’s most high-octane moments amidst the romance revenge-fantasy tale of love, betrayal and vengeance.
Medusa will be located in booth 1532 (“The Batmobile Booth”) on Level 1 of the Exhibition floor
NY International Auto Show is located at Jacob Javits Center in NYC
Medusa is also available for demonstrations and press ride-alongs throughout NYC on April 25th, 26th and 27th
Glodell, a former engineering student, constructed Medusa to be a real-life road monster. Unlike the Batmobile, Glodell’s Medusa is the real deal – no CGI or special camera tricks needed…the extraordinary features you see in the film are the same features you will see when you meet Medusa in person!
Medusa is equipped with two fuel injected exhaust flamethrowers with a 30,000 volt ignition system, smoke screen, a bleach drift-kit, adjustable rear suspension, 3 surveillance cameras (all in which are controlled from the dashboard), a customized apocalypse exhaust system, 6-71 Supercharger, posi rear end, a self-contained oxygen supply for chemical or underwater warfare, a roll cage, stow-able fold-down back seat and occasionally holds a sawed-off shotgun in the trunk in case of emergency.
BELLFLOWER was a critic and audience favorite at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival for its visceral energy and gorgeous imagery all of which come together in a story of love and explicit mayhem on the outskirts of L.A.
“Evan Glodell is the writer, director, star and editor of “Bellflower,” this crazy movie about these kids who live in Oxnard, California, who build their own flame throwers and are obsessed with the apocalypse,” says Karina Longworth (NPR and LA Weekly) “And it’s a romance but the romance and the apocalypse elements are completely fused together, and it’s really violent and bloody. And it’s wonderful.”
BELLFLOWER will be released by Oscilloscope Laboratories on August 5th, 2011
SYNOPSIS
Best friends Woodrow (Writer/Director Evan Glodell) and Aiden (Tyler Dawson) spend all of their free time building MAD MAX-inspired flamethrowers and cars in preparation for a global apocalypse. But when Woodrow meets a charismatic young woman and falls hard in love, he and Aiden quickly integrate into a new group of friends, setting off on a journey of love and hate, betrayal, infidelity, and extreme violence more devastating and fiery than any of their apocalyptic fantasies.
BELLFLOWER premiered at the 2011 SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL, drawing particular accolades for its visceral imagery and daring storyline. A much celebrated debut, Glodell wrote, stars in, and directed the film. He also incorporated his engineering background and unique talents into the production – fashioning custom optics for the camera, hand-crafting a fully-functional flame-thrower and transforming Medusa from the guts of a 1972 Buick Skylark to the fire-breathing road warrior featured in the film.
