John Cena, The Rock, CM Punk, Vince McMahon & More – BREAKING WWE NEWS & RAW REPORT

By Dani Mitchell

RAW’s 20th anniversary show, nothing more than a glorified clip show with a few surprises. Granted, we all know that during an anniversary show there is going to be clips of our favorite superstars and the moments we love, but I was expected major surprises. One we were in Texas. I was hoping with the Rock being on, they would bring out Stone Cold and we would have a real attitude moment kind of night. No Stone Cold! No Undertaker. What a shame. They really could have used that star power. All in all it was an average RAW, and I was expected something special.

The Show opened with Mr. McMahon putting Del Rio over. In case you haven’t heard, Del Rio beat Big Show on Smackdown for the World Heavy Weight Championship. Big Show complains about the match and Del Rio offers him a rematch, but Big Show refuses. I look at this as Del Rio is the champion to hold the belt just long enough for Mr. Money in the Bank Ziggler to finally cash in. It makes more sense for Ziggler to be able to beat someone like Del Rio rather than Big Show. Any day now Dolph…any day.

The next match is Barrett vs. Orton. Two great competitors, I’m thankful that Barrett finally has gold around his waist, but I am wondering when Orton will get his big push. He gets a huge pop from the crowd when his music hits. If they would run with his small ongoing feud with The Shield and team him up with someone high caliber it would be WWE gold. Anyways, Barrett and Orton put on a good match. At the end of it, Randy coils, ready to hit the RKO but Barrett pushes him into the ring post and hits him with the Bullhammer. Barrett gets the pin. It was a good clean, evenly played match for both.

Dr. Shelby was back to re-evaluate Team Hell No. The segment was okay. Sandow and Rhodes were brought out for a test. In true Sandow form, he questions Dr. Shelby’s medical credentials which led to a fight breaking out between the Tag Team Champs and Rhodes Scholars. Yes! Chants start… Not as great as their previous therapy sessions, but it leads to matches between Cody and Bryan and Sandow and Kane later.

Sandow and Kane’s match was a pretty quick one. Sandow only gets a few good shots in then hits the Elbow of Disdain for the near fall. Kane follows up by grabbing Sandow and hits the Chokeslam for a pin. If you think that was quick, Daniel Bryan’s match was even quicker. Cody Rhodes worked on Bryan’s knee first thing in the match before Bryan quickly slaps the No Lock on Rhodes. Cody Taps out. End of match. Quick sweeps for Team Hell No!

Mick Foley was there it was announced that he will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He comes out to the ring only to be interrupted by The Shield. Then Ryback’s music hits, then Orton comes out, both being beaten by The Shield. Finally Sheamus comes out to even the numbers, and allowing Ryback to hit the ShellShock on Reigns causing The Sheild to retreat. If the WWE does decide to continue a feud with Orton and The Shield I really hope they don’t team him up with Ryback, what a lackluster team. Even if they would team him up with Sheamus that would be a flop unless they would turn both of them heel, which in my opinion a Heel Sheamus and Heel Orton would be phenomenal.

The only real big surprise guest last night was Ric Flair. He was on Miz TV. When I knew we were having a Miz TV segment, I was hoping somoene that had a talk show segment would have been there to host, such as Jericho, Edge, Piper, but unfortunately it was just The Miz. They did a montage of some of the great catch phrases. Then when they return they are interrupted by Cesaro. Flair beats up on Cesaro and allows The Miz to perform the figure four. They end the segment by strutting around in true Flair fashion. WOOOOOO.

Our WWE champion had a match. I was thinking wow, Raw 20th anniversary, I bet they have big plans for the Champ. No. They give him a match against Brodus Clay. This match goes exactly how you think it will. Punk obviously has Clay’s number. They best part of this match was watching Punk dance around and mock Clay. Punk has such charisma in the ring, even as a heel. I was just disappointed they didn’t have more for him on such a big night.

The Diva’s Division suffered a blow last night. Kaitlyn was given a title match against Eve. Booker T gave the stipulation that if Eve DQ’d or had a count out that she would be stripped of the title. Well, Kaitlyn won and is the New Diva’s Champ. They then interviewed Eve, where she quit the WWE. First they lost Beth Pheniox, now Eve… They only woman left with some real strength in the division I think is Natalya. This could be Natalya’s chance to finally get her shot at the Diva’s Belt.

I guess the biggest match of the night would be the Steel Cage match between Ziggler and Cena. I am so incredibly frustrated with this you don’t even know. Ziggler hits these amazing moves, he has an impressive match. Dolph does things that make you want to chant “This is Awesome”. He easily transitions into counter moves and can shock the hell out of an audience; Cena has some okay hits, his usual moves. Nothing too impressive from Cena. But of course Cena wins. I just don’t get how Cena gets put over Ziggler when Ziggler’s talent is lightyears past John. It is absurd. If you didn’t watch it, find it, watch it, and be in awe of Ziggler.

The show ended with a Rock Show. Rock came out and sang a funny song about Paul Heyman and another about Vickie. Very entertaining. Obviously, The Rock still has it on the Mic. He calls out Punk who comes down to the Ramp and after the Rock says he will win the Championship they two break out in a straight up brawl. Just hit after hit. The show ends with two trying to be broke up by a dozen people.

The Royal Rumble is going to be a great match up between The Rock and Punk. I expect it to be entertaining and very evenly matched. I can’t wait to watch it go down.

Until next time kiddies, keep watching and shaking your heads at the WWE creative writers. Maybe they will have something better planned for the 30th anniversary.
