Andrew’s TNA Impact Report: Dixie Carter Vs Ric Flair

By Andrew Ryan

This week, TNA does a nice job of furthering the angle that Ric Flair and Fortune have caused with multiple factions angling for control of the company. As of late, the shows have had great storytelling and the same goes for this episode. This Impact also features a great tag team match with the Motor City Machine Guns taking on Generation Me. The war between Fortune and EV2 escalates as outsiders begin to get involved in the business of both factions.

TNA President Dixie Carter comes out to the ring to cut a feel-good promo putting over her company and calls out Ric Flair telling him that she won’t let anyone hurt the company. Flair comes out in a nice suit. He tells Dixie “You are drop-dead gorgeous, almost to the point of being sultry” and suggests they go back to the hotel and resolve their problems there. Dixie says she was so excited when Flair came to TNA to mentor young talent and be a backstage leader but he has failed miserably as of late. She says he must be treated the same as every man or woman in the back and suspends Flair for 90 days without pay. He then calls out Fortune saying that he and Fortune are one and the same. Ric starts to get heated and takes off his jacket. Dixie’s husband then gets in the ring to help her but is restrained by Fortune. Flair is about to strap him with his belt until Hogan’s music hits and Hogan along with The Pope, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy and Mr. Anderson come out to event the odds. Hogan overrides Dixie’s decision and says Flair is not suspended. Hogan then makes a match with his four guys vs. Fortune minus Beer Money. As Fortune is leaving they are ambushed by the ECW guys who begin brawling with members of Fortune.

Next, Orlando Jordan comes out with a Samoa Joe action figure tied like a necklace around his neck for a match vs. Joe himself. Joe brings the fight right to Jordan. Jordan does so gay stuff which makes Joe even angrier until he eventually gets the win with the musclebuster. After the match, Jeff Jarrett makes his way out to the ring and talks about Joe’s history in TNA and that he wants Joe to be in his corner when he takes on “Big Sexy” Kevin Nash so that he can take care of Sting if he shows up. Joe turns down they offer saying he only looks out for himself.

Nash immediately makes his way out to start the match. Nash chokeslams Jarrett but Jarrett somehow kicks out. Jarrett hooks on a sleeper which Nash counters out of by ramming Jarrett into an exposed turnbuckle. However, referee Brian Hebner gets caught up in it and is taken out. Jarrett hits the stroke but there is no ref to make the count. Sting comes in and attacks Jarrett with the baseball bat allowing Nash to get the win. Hogan’s music hits and out comes Eric Bischoff. Bischoff starts trashing on Sting as Sting demands Hogan. Hogan appears behind Sting who is choking Jarrett with a steel chair and cracks him across the back.

Backstage, Hogan asks Tommy Dreamer to let the other guys take care of Fortune tonight and for Tommy to focus on taking out Abyss. Next, Beer Money takes on the FBI made of Little Guide Maritato and Tony Mamaluke, who don’t even get a ring entrance. Beer Money squashes them and after the match James Storm takes a beer bottle to the head of Little Guido as they continue to squash them. Backstage, Tommy Dreamer rallies the troops and Stevie Richards is fired up to take out Abyss.

The original Beautiful People of TNA Knockouts Champion Angelina Love and Velvet Sky come out to cut a promo saying they are back together but are interrupted by Madison Rayne and her bodyguard. After Madison Rayne cuts an angry promo, a brawl ensues which has to be broken up by TNA security. Backstage, they cut to cheesy Motor City Machine Guns promos who talk about their upcoming match with Generation Me.

They do a vignette with Desmond Wolfe and Magnus who are shopping for new clothes at a mall. They are treating Chelsea poorly. It ends with Chelsea sneaking off with their credit card presumably to make some purchases. The Guns and Generation Me are up next in a non-championship match. This is a great match as both teams are very over and playing babyface to the crowd. The Young Bucks get an amazing rub here courtesy of some great offense on the Guns. However, the Guns eventually get the best of Gen Me and get the win. The match had some very entertaining tag wrestling a double team maneuvers as you would expect out of both teams.

Backstage, Flair cuts a promo about the eight man tag match that is the main event. Sting shows up behind him and starts choking him with the baseball bat. Sting tells Flair that once they get rid of the other problem they are coming after him. A little promo is aired promoting “Shore” which is a rip off of Jersey Shore that will be featuring Becky Bayless as one of the members. Taz and Mike Tenay talk about the upcoming pay per view. AJ Styles will take on Tommy Dreamer and Desmond and Magnus will face The Guns for the tag straps. Also, the show will feature the semifinals of the World title tournament.

In the back, Stevie Richards is attacking Abyss. The tables turn quickly on Stevie who is beatdown by Abyss. Abyss tries taking out Stevie with his favorite weapon Janice but misses. The two continue brawling as the camera cuts away. After the break, Rhino gets in the ring and calls out Abyss. Abyss makes his way out and these two start to brawl around the Impact Zone. The segment ends with Rhine goring Abyss and leaves him lying.

The eight man tag of Fortune vs. the final four in the TNA World title tournament is next. Angle, Pope, Hardy and Anderson get the win as a little argument erupts between the Pope and Angle. Fortune starts a beat down on the four guys. The ECW guys run down and begin attacking Fortune. The chaotic brawl ends the show as TNA hypes the war for control of the company.
