Former world heavyweight champion and WBA #6 rated Shannon Briggs (58-6-1, 51 KOs) scored a first round KO over Hungarian Zoltan Petranyi (51-22-1, 16 KOs) on Friday night at the Hotel Sortis in Panama City, Panama. Briggs immediately deducted a point for throwing Petranyi to the canvas. A Briggs body shot then dropped Petrayni. Petrayni then went down from another body shot and the bout was over. Time was 1:52.

After the fight, former cruiserweight champion Guillermo Jones entered the ring and challenged Briggs. Briggs said he would give Jones a shot after he fights heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko.
