Packy’s World: Tyson Fury – Wladimir Klitschko Fixed?, The Real Sonny Liston Exposed!, My Pal Al, Jack Warden & The Chutzpah Award Goes to Andrew “Drew The Picture” Hames

Oy Vay are you going to hear it today…As I approach my 86th year here on Planet Earth, I reflect back more than ever about times that have passed and existing times. In a world that at times, is beautiful and at others, a total mess, I hope that one day we find peace amongst all men and women of all races, religions, nationalities and different beliefs. I don’t claim to be the “ONE” who has all the answers, but I do have “Old Age” wisdom and it doesn’t really take more than that, to realize we must have change if we ever hope to finally have peace.

So there are my deep thoughts which I hardly ever bring to my column, but felt the necessity today to do so. Let’s talk some boxing.

Tyson Fury – Wladimir Klitschko Fight Fixed?… Oy Vay to the 3rd power RSR readers. I received this email from a fruitcake out of England who says:

Packy,

Let me tell you that even though I am English living in London, the Queen had the fight fixed in order for Tyson Fury to beat that robot Klitschko. I know this to be true!

Packy’s response: We have a nut on aisle six. Send a straight jacket. The fight was not fixed! Wlad stunk the joint out and had no Plan B. Plain and simple. Is Fury an all time great? Hell no, but give the guy his just due, he beat the man who was the legit Heavyweight Champion not Deontay Wilder or Ruslan Chagaev. End of story.

The Real Sonny Liston Exposed… Let me tell you something I am so tired of hearing. Sonny was evil. I am not saying he didn’t have his demons, but I saw firsthand many times on Miami Beach back in the early 60’s, him helping out folks and never wanting any press or a thank you for it. Does that sound like pure evil? My tuckus!

My Pal Al (“Bad” Brad’s Father)…. Sadie and I were having dinner the other night at a plush spot in Miami and the conversation turned to Al. Sadie felt his spirit around us because she brought up the time Al was in California acting and sent us a funny picture around 1961, from Malibu Beach, with an inside joke that to this day, breaks us up. 18 years will have elapsed in July since Alvin left us, and though they say a heart mends, mine has never completely done so because I miss him so much and loved him dearly.

Jack Warden… He was one hell of a character actor who was underrated. Here are my top five favorite Warden movies.

The Chutzpah Award… The Chutzpah Award goes to Andrew “Drew The Picture” Hames. As many of you already know, I don’t do that Bookface, Shitter or Instant Coffee Gram stuff. Social Media is me going to play a game of Shuffleboard and talking to the old Yentas. But I do get my fill from Bradley and he sends me links to read or I see articles on Ringside Report. I read an article the other day by my fellow writer Andrew Hames, who wrote about racism in boxing and in the world that I was very impressed with. It took bagels to address the elephant in the room and to do so eloquently, he gets my coveted Chutzpah Award. Keep up the great work Andrew!
