As More States Introduce Bills Banning Transgender Athletes, The NCAA Is Having None Of It!

By Ty Ross

The NCAA has said they will not hold any events in states that discriminate against trans athletes. Nearly 30 states have proposed some sort of anti-transgender legislation, with a majority including a ban on trans teens participating in sports, so that’s a huge deal.

If I were one of those states, I’d take this threat very seriously. Especially TX. In 2017, the Lone Star state lost approximately $8.5B when the NCAA pulled events out of the state following the passing of anti-trans bathroom legislation.

The NCAA Board of Governors has released a statement saying that they will only hold championships in states where transgender athletes are not discriminated against. An LGBTQ advocacy group within the NCAA has also released a statement calling for an end to the discriminatory bills.
