Ohio Teen Arrested At New York Subway Station With Assault Rifle
Friday afternoon, transit officers arrested 18 year old Saadiq Teague on charges of criminal gun possession, at New York City’s Port Authority train station.
No word yet on why the Columbus, OH teen was in NYC, but according to his mother he wanted to see Times Square. His mother has described him as a good kid, recent graduate of a top high school and free of a criminal record.
Teague was charging his phone in the train station as his AK-47 assault rifle lay in front of him. The gun was unloaded, but 17 rounds were found in a clip in a nearby paper bag. An empty shell casing was found in Teague’s backpack.
Teague didn’t resist when officers arrested him. He told police that he had a permit to carry the weapon in his home state and thought as long as the rifle wasn’t loaded, that he wasn’t breaking the law.
A little over a month ago Teague’s father, Andrew Teague was killed by Ohio police after leading them on an hour long car chase that ended in a shootout.
While there doesn’t appear to be any intended violence, a video has surfaced showing Teague on his Instagram saying “Fuck New York”, with what appears to be the AK-47 sticking out of his backpack.
Teague remains in jail on a 25K cash bond.
