Night Court TV Show Actor Charles Robinson Dead at 75 – Entertainment News

Charles Robinson, who played Macintosh “Mac” Robinson, the clerk on the hit NBC sitcom NIGHT COURT died July 11, 2021, in Los Angeles, California, from cardiac arrest caused by other health complications. He was 75.

In his early years, as a teenager, Robinson was a singer with the group Archie Bell and the Drells and later with a group

called Southern Clouds of Joy. In the 1960s Robinson attended Studio 7, an acting school at the Houston Music Theatre. He left Studio 7 and moved to Hollywood where his career took off.
Prior to starring on NIGHT COURT, Robinson appeared in several films and TV series including SUGAR HILL (1974), CANNON (1971-1976), A KILLING AFFAIR (1977), KING (1978), LOU GRANT (1977-1982), ROOTS: THE NEXT GENERATION (1979), APOCALYPSE NOW (1979), HILL STREET BLUES (1981-1987), and ST. ELSEWHERE (1982-1988).

Robinson was cast on NIGHT COURT after the first season in 1984, and remained with the series until it ended in 1992. He also directed three episodes. His post NIGHT COURT credits include THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR (1990-1996), SET IT OFF (1996), TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL (1994-2003), HOME IMPROVEMENT (1991-1999), MY WIFE AND KIDS (2001-2006), CARNIVALE (2003-2005), CHARMED (1998-20060, COLD CASE (2003-2010), THE HOUSE BUNNY (2008), BIG LOVE (2006-2011), THE GAME (2006-2015), THE GUEST BOOK (2017-2018), and MOM (2013-2021).
