Jeff Bezos Keep Your Non Paying Ass In Space!!!!

On July 20, 2021, Jeff Bezos will make an 11-minute voyage into space on a reusable rocket. In 2020, Bezos grew his wealth by around $75 billion while 4000 of his workers were reported to be on food stamps and working conditions in Amazon warehouses lead to 19,000 workers testing positive for Covid-19.

His timing isn’t pretty. We have a climate crisis, an economic crisis, a healthcare crisis, a student loan crisis, and covid swirling around. It is not a good time for the wealthy to be rubbing our noses in just how wealthy they are.

And that’s just what Elon is doing. Bragging on Insta, tweeting into the void… this is one massive ego-massage and I refuse to be the masseur to get splashed by Elon’s happy ending.

There is a petition on change.org that is titled: Do not allow Jeff Bezos to return to Earth. As of this writing it has more than 150,000 signatures. Though it was created to be funny, the underlying message of “we don’t like you Elon, go away.” is an indicator we’re stepping away from heroizing the absurdly wealthy. The petition blurb says “Billionaires should not exist…on earth, or in space, but should they decide the latter, they should stay there.” I couldn’t agree more.
