Above The Law?

By Joyce Davis

People in power like to say out loud and often that “no man is above the law” while proving that there are men above the law. Sure, I get it. (Wink, wink) let the process happen, be patient. I hear all the critics but that does not make me wrong.

When state officials take the oath to protect from foreign and domestic; they did not mention they would ignore that if domestic represented a party. When it comes to Congress, Vice President, or even President there are a different set of rules. They blink at setting a precedent. That is not mentioned in your oath Mam and Sir. To add just because she knows she will not get the votes Madam Speaker Nancy Pelosi should hold every person who committed sedition to those charges in the House. I know the votes are not there but I know that history needs to know in detail what took place. We should not, shall not let whether it passes or not keep it from being put forth.

North Carolina voters have filed a legal action against Madison Cawthorn. They say to the State Board that Madison is not qualified because he broke the 14th amendment. I need more of that. These people like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz are openly giving their support to what happened on January 6th. My mind popped. How is it that people that took an oath to protect us decided they would prefer to protect the people that attacked us? How is that a freaking thing? It should not be. They should be escorted out, but because we don’t have the votes…

To add insult to injury; there were people that took part in what happened on January 6th, yet they walked away with probation. Tell me how being a traitor to your country gets you probation. They say they were fooled by Trump. So, you get to get away with a crime because someone fooled you? If that is the case so many people need to be let out of jail. Their intent was to stop the certification. They succeeded and stopped it for the day. It did not resume until the 7th of January.

Meanwhile back at Bat Camp; the January 6th commission has let a lot of people go with no subpoenas. I wanted to know that they had baby teeth at least. Don’t get me wrong. They are doing a fantastic job. I am impressed with all they have found out. My problem is I wanted to believe them when they said no person is above the law. I wanted to believe they would submit a referral for Contempt of Congress to Jim Jordan, Kevin McCarthy, or even Mike Pence, just as they did Steve Bannon and Mark Meadows.

Maybe I am just too naïve. I want to believe that justice will one day work the same for everyone. I wanted to believe that no matter what title you have or what place you had in a government you would be subject to the law the same way I would. For instance; let’s say on January 6th there was a Muslim man leading Muslim people (Black Man leading BLM) to the Capitol to hang Mike Pence or stop an election. Would that make people say wait to see what the evidence showed us? Would it take more than a year to figure it out? No. They may arrest others later but you best believe the leader would be the first to be arrested. No way in hell would he be able to go on tour with Bill O’Reilly around America.

Even if they did everything I said tomorrow. If they arrested Trump and every single person who publicly let it be known they were a part of helping, supporting, or advising on for January 6th,( I would love that), they cannot erase the fact they flinch when it comes to people in power. It is time to challenge the law. Stop flinching and treat every man like Steve Bannon. Show us no one is above the law.
