Legendary Folk Singer Gordon Lightfoot Dies at 84 – Entertainment News

Canadian folk singer Gordon Lightfoot, known for songs such as “If You Could Read My Mind” and “Sundown”, passed away May 1, 2023 in Toronto, Canada. No cause of death was given. He was 84.

Lightfoot achieved international success in folk, folk-rock, and country music and was credited with helping to define the folk-pop sound of the 1960s and 1970s. He has been referred to as Canadian’s greatest songwriter and was known internationally as a folk-rock legend.

Lightfoot’s discography comprises of 20 studio albums, 16 greatest hits albums and 47 singles, including “For Lovin’ Me”, “Early Morning Rain”, “Ribbons of Darkness”, “Talking in Your Sleep”, “Canadian Railroad Trilogy”, and “The Wreck of Edmund Fitzgerald”.
