Fort Hood Shooter: WILL FACE DEATH PENALTY

By Geno McGahee

The Army psychiatrist charged with the Ford Hood rampage will be tried in military court and will face the death penalty. Maj. Nidal Hasan is charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in the 2009 shooting spree in Texas.

Hasan’s attorney is currently attempting to take the death penalty off of the table for his client, noting that such cases are more costly and time consuming.

Hasan is now paralyzed from the waist down. That was the result of a shooting from the police the day he went on his rampage. He currently awaits trial at the Bell County Jail. Witness have testified that Hasan was wearing an Army combat uniform and shouted “Allahu Akbar,” which means “God is great.”

He immediately shot and killed two people that were attempting to stop him by throwing chairs in his direction. He then killed three soldiers that were protecting the civilian nurses.

An American born Muslim, Hasan, will either be jailed his entire life or given the death penalty. He just awaits to find out which one.
