Let me tell you something brother. I was riding my Harley down the west coast last night when my phone went ring-a-ding and it was my brother in the mask and he asked me a very serious question man. He said: “Weapon of Masked Destruction, what are the top 5 best wrestling feuds of all time?” Well, I had to think about this one long and hard brother and I came up with my top 5. Here they are dude…
There hasn’t been a feud that has generated the interest in recent years as the match up between John Cena and The Rock. The Rock began throwing down in the blood and the mud and then he went to Hollywood and owned that as well man. He came back to the WWE to help raise the ratings and was pitted against the company’s best. The end result was two Wrestlemania showdowns and the fans responding in grand fashion. These two brought it and for that, they make the list brother.
This was the showstopper man. You had the Nature Boy and the Stinger face to face and it lasted for years. At one point, Sting was brought into the four horseman brother, but it didn’t work out when Ole Anderson laid the smack down man. Sting and Flair lit it up on Clash of the Champions and we even saw the old Nature Boy wear a mask to come back as a mystery opponent dude. These two men constantly battled it out for supremacy and, in the end, I would call this one a tie brother.
The Hulkster has had his fair share of feuds with such greats as Sting, Randy Savage and Andre the Giant, but the most memorable and historic has to be the showdown between Hulk and Roddy Piper, which brought in the “Rock and Wrestling” connection. It led to the first Wrestlemania and solidified the WWE (WWF) as a powerhouse brother. This match up was huge for the budding sport and cable powerhouse.
When you get the two best in the sport as real enemies outside of it and two egos that couldn’t fit any arena, you have a winning combination brother. The two began as tag team rivals as the Hart Foundation encountered the Rockers, but when they became singles stars, the two would battle for the biggest prize in the sport man. The screw-job heard around the world made this feud that much more popular and people to this day still think that it may have been a work too man. Whatever the case, these two are permanently linked as rivals and as one of the most memorable feuds ever.
It got dirty man…really dirty. The Monday Night Wars saw the WWE with its first real competitor in WCW and the two would go to battle every Monday night and, amazingly, the WCW would outmaneuver and outthink the WWE, bringing a fresh product and surprises around every corner man. In the end the WWE would win, but it was a sad victory and may have been WCW losing more than the WWE being victorious brother. However you see it man, this was the most memorable wrestling feud man.
