Sarah Guyard, 31, an acrobat of the “KA” cast of Cirque Du Soleil, died after falling fifty feet when a wire snapped during her performance on the “high wire.” She would be rushed from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. It was a horrific and tragic accident.
The founder of the show, Guy Laliberte, issued a statement, noting: “I am heartbroken. I wish to extend my sincerest sympathies to the family. We are all completely devastated. We are reminded with great humility and respect how extraordinary our artists are each and every night. Our focus now is to support each other as a family.”
Cirque Du Soleil has been an ongoing and popular show for the last thirty years, and there has never been a death associated with the show until now. Where the show goes from here is unknown, but it will be a time for mourning for those involved and the family of Guyard.
