Saul “Canelo” Alvarez Knocks OUT Amir Khan in the 6th Round: Gennady “GGG” Golovkin Fight MUST be MADE!

Tonight 16,540 filled into the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas to witness the WBC, Ring Magazine and Lineal Middleweight World Champion and Mexican Superstar, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, 46-1-1, 32 KO’s from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, make his first middleweight title defense against former two-time world champion Amir “King” Khan 31-3, 19 KO’s. From the start, the speed of Amir was apparent as his hand speed was seemingly bothering Canelo. Towards the middle rounds Canelo started timing his punches and landing shots, although the faster Khan controlled the fight. Then in the 6th Canelo caught Khan with a devastating over hand right, literally putting him to sleep, Khan laid motionless in the ring while referee Kenny Bayless called off the fight at the 2:27 mark. After the fight, Khan stated “I’m one of those fighters who will step in the ring with whoever. I showed my balls by getting in the ring with a big guy.

This is boxing. I wanted to get in there. I didn’t make it to the end, but I tried my best. I’d like to thank all my fans for supporting me. I want to be best and fight the best. This is why I accepted this challenge. I’ll probably go down. My natural weight is 147. I’ll probably go down to that after this.” Canelo let fans know “He’s (Khan) a fast fighter but I knew time would come to my favor and you saw that. Many people talk about my speed but I have many more qualities and I think you saw that. I like to surprise everyone. Like we say in Mexico, we don’t fuck around. I don’t fear anyone.”

To open up the PPV portion of the card the undefeated Brazilian star Patrick Teixeira, 26-0, 22 KO’s battled heavy-handed, former world title challenger Curtis “Showtime” Stevens, 27-5, 20 KO’s in a 10-round career-defining middleweight bout. From the start the Steven landed numerous big right hands hurting the Brazilian, then at 2:07 of the second round Stevens took a left hook on the chin while landing” The young lion tried to take over the jungle gym but tonight it wasn’t happening”, “I had to get back to the basics”

Next up was a battle two Southern California favorites as Mauricio “El Maestro” Herrera 22-5, 7 KO’s of Riverside, California took on East Los Angeles’ undefeated star Frankie “Pitbull” Gomez 20-0, 13 KO’s in a 10-round welterweight bout. The first round was a feeling out round for both fighters. Round 2 saw Frankie become the aggressor and begin to land several hard shots and big combinations to the face of Herrera. Throughout the middle rounds Frankie continued to land precise shots as Herrera who had suffered a cut under his left eye. The rest of the fight was much of the same as Gomez controlled every aspect of the fight and going on to win a unanimous decision. By the scores of 100-90 on all three judges scorecards Gomez out landed Herrera 183-106 in total punches, and landed 42.1% of his power punches, landing 174 punches to Herrera’s 84. .“It feels good to get this victory,” said Frankie “Pitbull” Gomez. “I trained really hard and it paid off. I’m ready to take on my next challenge and take on the best at 140. I want to thank my fans, and I’m glad I was able to put on a good show for them.”

Undercard Results:

Diego De La Hoya, 14-0, 8 KO’s vs. Rocco Santomauro, 13-0, 1 KO (Super Bantamweight) 8/10 rounds. Result: De La Hoya winner by TKO round 7 as Santomauro was unable to continue due to cuts over both eyes. De La Hoya moves to 15-0, 9 KO’s with his knockout win.

Jason Quigley, 10-0, 9 KO’s vs. James De La Rosa, 23-3, 13 KO’s (Middleweight) 10 rounds Results: Jason Quigley winner by unanimous decision by the scores of 100-90 on all three scorecards. Quigley remains undefeated and moves to 11-, 9 KO’s

Lamont Roach JR.r, 10-0, 3-KO’s vs. Jose Esquivel, 9-4, 2 KO’s (Super Featherweight) 8 rounds

Result: Roach, JR by UD.

Rashidi Ellis, 14-0, 11 KO’s vs. Marco Antonio Lopez, 24-8, 15 KO’s (Super Welterweight) 8 rounds.

Result: Ellis with a unanimous decision victory, by the scores of 80-72 on all three judges scorecards, Ellis moves to 15-0, 11 KO’s

David Mijares (debut) vs. Omar Reyes, 1-2 (Super Lightweights) 4 rounds.

Result: David Mijares winner by Unanimous by the scores of 40-36 on all three of the judges scorecards. Mijares goes to 1-0.
