Friday night August 26th at the Omega Products Events Center in Corona, California, Thompson Boxing Promotions bring fans an absolutely stacked card, headlined by Southern California prospect and WBA-NABA Super Bantamweight Champion Danny Roman, 19-2-1, 7KO’s. Roman will be defending his title for the fourth time as he takes on tough Mexican Enrique Quevedo, 16-7-1, 10 KO’s. The 26 year old Roman currently sits at #8 on the WBA rankings, and continues to move up in the rankings with each successful title defense. With eleven wins since 2014, Roman is among the more active contenders in the division. Roman is a very technical boxer who uses his jab and ring generalship to outbox his competition.

With that being said Danny is coming off two straight knockout victories. To prepare for his upcoming bout Roman has been in the gym sparring with Leo Santa Cruz and Jhonatan Romero. When recently asked about his upcoming fight Roman stated “Quevedo is a tough boxer.” He doesn’t back down against anyone and he’s always in excellent shape. We’ve both beat Chris Martin, who is a savvy boxer-puncher. It’s going to be a good, tough fight, one that I’m ready for. There’s no doubt I’m going to beat him.

In the Co-main event undefeated heavyweight prospect LaRon Mitchell, 13-0, 13 KO’s from San Francisco, California looks to extend his unbeaten, and knockout winning streak against Mario Heredia, 13-2, 11 KO’s of Mexico. When asked about his KO streak LaRon stated “I’m not the PicsArt_08-22-06.27.49type that is careless and wild in the ring.” In the heavyweight division, any fight could be your last. I’m extremely careful about not chasing knockouts. I just let the fight develop and the knockouts take care of themselves. For the 36 year old Mitchell his time is now as this will be his 4th of 6 scheduled fights in 2016. LaRon had a stellar amateur career and made it the finals of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials. Along the way he defeated current undefeated heavyweight contender Dominic Breazeale. Mitchell also won a silver medal at the U.S. National Championships.

Also on the card is welterweight prospect and WBA Fedecentro Welterweight Champion, Robert Arriaza, 12-0, 10 KO’s of Los Angeles, by way of Nicaragua as he takes on Benjamin Whitaker, 11-2, 2 KO’ of San Antonio, Texas. Arriaza who is training at The Rock Gym in Carson, California is looking to stay undefeated and move up from his #10 WBA ranking. Fans attending the bouts Friday should look for this fight to steal the show. Whitaker’s only two losses are to undefeated Keenan Smith and undefeated top welterweight. prospect Egidijus “The Mean Machine” Kavaliauskas. Arriaza who is now training under Manny Robles has been sparring daily and working with 2012 US Olympian Terrell Gausha, Oscar Negrete, Nery Romero, Niko Valdes and Jason Quigley.

Friday night will also showcase undefeated super bantamweight prospect Rudy Garcia 2-0, 1 KO to face an opponent TBA, and heavyweight prospect Scott Alexander, 11-1-2, 6 KO’s of Moreno Valley, California as he takes on Sergio Ramirez, 11-1, 7 KO’s of Tijuana, Mexico.
