Today is the 45-year anniversary of a fight between Pedro Carrasco and Mando Ramos. Carrasco weighed in at 134,75 pounds and Ramos weighed in at 135 pounds. The fight happened at Palacio de los Deportes, Madrid, Comunidad de Madrid, Spain. The two boxers contested the title of WBC World Lightweight Champion, which had been stripped from Ken Buchanan.

Also, it is the 5-year anniversary of a fight between James Kirkland and Alfredo Angulo. Kirkland weighed in at 153,75 pounds and Angulo weighed in at 154 pounds. The fight happened in Centro de Cancun, Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico. The two fighters exchanged knockdowns in the first round. Kirkland (Mandingo Warrior) was leading on all three scorecards, by 50-46 (Twice) and 49-46 when he TKO´d Angulo (Perro) in the sixth round, in an upset. With the win, Kirkland won the title of WBC Continental Americas Super Welterweight Champion.

The 5-year anniversary of a fight between Lucian Bute and Glen Johnson. Bute weighed in at 167,5 pounds and Johnson weighed in at 166,5 pounds. The fight happened on Pepsi Coliseum, Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Bute won by a 12-round Unanimous Decision. On the scorecards, 120-108 (Twice) and 119-109. With the win, Bute kept the title of IBF World Super-Middleweight Champion. Not only that, he retained his unbeaten record, elevating it to 30-0, 24 KO’s.
