Theocracy…

The latest presidential election is finally upon us. I realize how tough this one has been but bear with me for a few more minutes.
In large part this contest has become about faith or so-called religious freedom. I know, I do not like talking about this either it is personal, it’s no one else’s business, which is exactly the point I’m getting to here.
No matter your faith, or lack thereof, you should have the right to practice it in this country. If you want to worship a cardboard cutout of Cthulhu’s butthole by throwing slices of American cheese at it from ten paces away that’s your business. However, when you attempt to force others to do the same or have legislators pass laws in an effort to place your religion above others, I have a serious issue.
We seem to have arrived at that impasse yet again in this country. No, not Cthulhu’s butthole, which I’m sure is very serious, but at a place where certain folks want to impose their religious laws upon others, especially women. I am not sure why we are so obsessed with what others do with their genitals and reproductive systems. I’m not a neophyte and do understand that religious leaders want to control these things so their followers make little followers, but that alone cannot be a reason they are allowed to abuse the rights of others who don’t follow their religious practices.
There is also the pretension that Judeo-Christian moral codes are the oldest and most just moral codes on the planet. Please do pick up a history book or search engine your way to the facts, they simply are not. Many of them were borrowed or copied from other faiths and civilizations.
Please get out and vote and leave your faith at home where it belongs while you do so.
Love him or hate him, Frank Zappa stood tall before Congress and fought for our freedoms. The man did not find much sacred, he also never pretended to in any way. Frank was lost to prostate cancer, dudes, get yourselves checked.
