Seannie Monaghan & Bobby Cassidy, JR. Ring 8 Guest Speakers Thursday Night in New York – Boxing News

Undefeated light heavyweight contender Seannie Monaghan (22-0, 14 KOs) and multi-media personality Bobby Cassidy Jr. are scheduled to be this month’s Ring 8 guest speakers Thursday night, Oct. 16 (doors open 6 p.m, meeting starts at 8 p.m.) at Plattduetsche Park Restaurant in Franklin Square, New York.

In an effort to expand its membership, Ring 8 has committed to holding four of its 10 monthly meetings a year at Plattduetsche Park Restaurant with the remainder at historic Waterfront Crabhouse in Long Island City, New York.

“Ring 8 will celebrate Oktoberfest with a meeting on Long Island for the first time,” Ring 8 president Bob Duffy explained. “We’ve had a lot of interest from potential Ring 8 members who live on Long Island but will also continue having meetings in Queens at the Waterfront Crabhouse.”

Monaghan, fighting out of Long Beach (NY), has risen to the top of the 175-pound ratings. The reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) Americas light heavyweight champion is world rated by all four major governing bodies: WBA (#3), IBF (#4), WBC #8) and WBO #13).

Cassidy is a highly respected writer for Newsday, as well a producer of boxing documentaries who also wrote “Kid Shamrock,” a popular play about his father, Bobby Cassidy Sr., the retired boxer and New York State Boxing Hall of Fame inductee.
