Detroit Lions Overcome the New Orleans Saints in a Nail Biter – NFL NEWS

By “Bad” Brad Berkwitt

The New Orleans Saints seemed poised to win its third game of this young NFL season. Deep into the 4th quarter, they held a 13 point lead over the home team, and merely needed to finish the game. With 3:38 seconds left in the game, the wheels came off of the cart for New Orleans. A long touchdown pass by Stafford to Tate, and an errant Brees pass converted into another touchdown sealed their fate, and it was a devastating one as the Saints fell to the Lions, 24-23.

A bye week did very little to calm a very testy Sean Payton as he fielded questions from the media after the gut wrenching loss. Peyton took issue with one reporter’s questioning the play calling at the end of the game. The Saints turned the ball over by interception when most offensive coordinators would have chosen to run the ball and thus the clock. The Saints squandered a golden opportunity to make headway in the NFC South, as both Atlanta and Carolina dropped their games today as well.

The Saints take their 2-4 record back to New Orleans, as they host the 4-2 Green Bay Packers.
